Violin and viola lessons in Bournemouth

Hi there, I’ve been teaching violin and viola in the Bournemouth area since 2005. Mainly privately from our home in Charminster BH9, but also at Bournemouth University and Poole Grammar School since 2008.
As a performer I have a very varied playing career, leading the Alani String Quartet, playing electric violin in The Bomo Swing (we’ve played at Bestival, Camp Bestival, Larmer Tree, Boomtown, IOW Festival etc), various jazz ensembles, as well as more traditional and perhaps more expected ensembles such as orchestras. I did 4 years of regular extra work with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra from 2007 – 2011. I’m a member of the Westminster Chamber Orchestra, and have guest lead many professional / semi pro orchestras including The Haydn Collective, Wessex Chamber Orchestra, New Forest Chamber Orchestra, Westbourne Orchestral Society etc.

Recording credits include many CD’s with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, Girls Aloud, The Pet Shop Boys, Alesha Dixon etc.

My approach to teaching is simple – make it fun!
I currently teach students aged 8 to 70+
Some students take ABRSM / Trinity exams, and some play just for fun. I’m open to either option!
I teach classical, folk, jazz and improvising.

My rates from September 2020 will be –

£17 / 30 minutes
£25.50 / 45 minutes
£34 / hour
